In line with soaring UK temperatures, TAMBA have produced an Infographic for Stay In Devon that directly compares a holiday at home to a holiday abroad, in a bid to increase tourism to the region. With an aim to contradict research from 2012, Stay in Devon has found statistics to prove that a holiday to Devon is a better option than a holiday to Majorca.
This claim is justified as the summer of 2013 has already started strongly, with traffic to www.stayindevon.co.uk, increasing a significant 12.05% in one month from June to July, and recent tourist board reports of increasing visitor numbers. Holiday experts have also suggested that Devon can expect over 2 million holiday-makers by the end of the year as 65% of British adults are holidaying in the UK in 2013, compared with only 41% in 2012 and 35% in 2011.
Managing Director James Morris adds "The distinct rise in visitor numbers to our website confirms that the UK is an important tourist destination, and Devon is arguably the cream of the crop. We hope that this Infographic will encourage more visitors from home and away to enjoy the stunning South West of England".
The Infographic was commissioned as part of a wider campaign to boost tourism to the area and to complement the push for Devon to win the Best UK Holiday County or Region award at this year's British Travel Awards. There will also be a competition running alongside this campaign where entrants will have the opportunity to win the ultimate October Half Term Holiday to Devon, with prizes including accommodation, free entry to great attractions, a family surf lesson, a Devon hamper full of treats, a beach bag from The Old Bag Company, and a meal at a local restaurant.
With the heat wave set to continue, and the temperatures remaining high for the foreseeable future, Stay In Devon hope that the Infographic will encourage more people to enjoy a staycation in beautiful Devon.
