Greeting Card Application

The Carphone Warehouse Group was founded in 1989 by Charles Dunstone as a UK mobile phone retailer. In the following eight years, the business grew organically and opened its first branches elsewhere in Western Europe in 1996. From 1998, the business supplemented this organic growth with a series of acquisitions both in the UK and Western Europe and now has a portfolio of c.2,400 stores across eight European countries.

Client Objective:

Carphone Warehouse wanted to offer their stores across the world the ability to send out seasonal promotional eCards which could be programmed with talking messages as a way of gaining cut through with busy consumers.

Agency Activity:

We investigated and recommended the use of Acapella as the voice engine and deployed this alongside a bespoke content management system which allowed them to choose a variety of scenes and animations which could be selected for the cards.

We also built a bank of visual assets for the cards to get them started.

Results:

The eCard system has become an integral piece of the internal marcomms at Carphone Warehouse. It has been deployed to 10 territories worldwide and translated into 7 languages.
