SUE RYDER CARE CHALLENGE YOU TO RIDE FOR RYDER | 1/05/2010
We are pleased to announce the completion of our latest viral campaign, created for Ride for Ryder, an annual fundraising event of Sue Ryder Care. Ride for Ryder invites people to support and raise funds for the charity using the theme of riding or travelling as a basis and our campaign - named after the event it is created to promote - takes this theme and makes it playable.
In Ride for Ryder, players can choose from one of three unique "rides" and attempt to complete a timed race, picking up donation money as they go. Each of the rides - balloon, camel and tractor - has unique speed and handling attributes and each is able to retrieve hidden coins on the course, inaccessible to the other two. As you would expect, the race course is not hazard free; a variety of obstacles litter the road, ranging from giant rocks to stray sheep, all of which will incur a time penalty if hit.
A particularly high score can be achieved through a balance of coin collecting and a timely race finish. This is a goal well worth pursuing, as all players who qualify for the high score leaderboard will be entered into a prize draw to win a quad biking experience for two, courtesy of Sue Ryder Care.
At the end of each game, players are shown the monetary value of the virtual coins they have collected from the course and are invited to donate the equivalent amount to Sue Ryder Care. One click of a button will take the player across to the Sue Ryder Care website, where the donation form will be waiting, pre-filled with the amount earned during the game. A similar tactic was employed in our Comic Relief 2007 viral - Red Lead - proving so effective that it won their 2007 Digital Challenge and an NMA Effectiveness Award.
Ruth Peters, Head of Events at Sue Ryder Care said of the game "We are just so pleased with the game and can't wait to watch its success. TAMBA have done an amazing job, they have been a pleasure to work with and I am already thinking of what our next project could possibly be".
